Majlis Iftar STAROBA

Attended Majlis Iftar STAROBA last night (10 September 2008) at Dewan Al-Malek Faisal, Matriculation Centre, Islamic International University of Malaysia, Petaling Jaya. Met Rahim Osman, Mat Abu Khair, Lookeman, Idrus, Rahim, Md. Ali and of course Dato Dr. Awang Adek(all same batch of '73). Mail Gebang and Rashid Abdullah (Gong) promised to come but didnot make it. Other guys met including Abu Samah, Hj. Tauzan, Wahab Ehsan, Ismail Jabbar, Rahim (MoHealth), Adnan Hassan, Sokini, Yuzer, Mizor Hillal, Mat Ariff (the guitarist! reminded me of him playing "For A Few Dollars More' during school concert!), Bakhtiar, Syed Mazlan, Pak Ngah (Alias the Stand off) just to name a few. Had a great time.., remembering STAR, reminiscing our time and memories at Tiger Lane, commenting on how one has put up some weight.., about politics., about retirement plans,.. bla.. bla. Performed the maghrib prayer, terawih and witir. Can you imagine the 'praying hall' was initially packed and couldnot accomodate us all, initially for the maghrib prayer. Heard one good comment from Abu Samah.. 'it is not because the hall is too small., it is because we are now more 'alim' than before! Makan time, Okey lah. Not so bad and I didnt expect a 5 'star' cuisine anyway. Without lomak cili api, I managed though to control my appetite! Anyway, after dinner and after Isyak prayer, we continued with the teraweh (8 rakaat with 2 + 1 for witir). Whilst having our moreh, Brader Abas Hasan (ex Dean of Matriculation IIUM) gave his speech, though I couldnot figure up what we was saying. Kira OKey la tu. Then Dato Hamzah Zainuddin (batch 75), the President of STAROBA gave his speech. Being a politician, a bit of political talk here and there (cant be helped). Anyway, for the finale, Yuzer together with the STAROBA Juniors, led everybody sang the school song . The day ended at around 10.30 pm. It was announced that next year will be the 10th. Majlis Iftar that STAROBA organise.. (if there is any). The president promised a better and a more grand Iftar. (Does it mean 'ayam golek? .. 'panggang rusa'., or is it Tiger lane speciality.. 'meehoon Kak Amlah'!!) Anyway, hopefully, InsyaAllah...
